Current Practice
Tony Carroll has forty years experience in acting for vendors and purchasers of commercial, industrial and residential property and in assisting our business clients find comprehensive solutions for their needs. Tony also has extensive experience in advising individuals in the area of Estate Planning and in advising not for profit organisations.

Professional Experience
During his 40 years of practice, Tony has accumulated a wealth of experience in the areas of property and business services. Tony's legal expertise has been enhanced by his practical experience as Chairman of Phipps Properties Limited, and as Director of Trinity Properties Limited (both formerly public listed companies). Tony's extensive experience in wills, probate and administration of estates enables him to provide insightful, strategic advice to our clients in the area of Estate Planning. Another major area of Tony's practice is advising and representing not for profit organisations. Tony's expertise in this area extends to setting up structures for these organisations using the relevant provisions of the Corporations Law, which includes the obtaining of Local Government, State and Federal exemptions from various imposts and the transferral of assets into new structures with minimum stamp duty implications.

His expertise also includes advising on the transfer of major undertakings between not for profit hospital organisations, for example, the Mater to St Vincent's Hospital. Tony brings to his work in the not for profit sector a first hand understanding of how the organisations operate, by virtue of his extensive involvement in charitable organisations, including:

- member of the Governing Body of College of Advanced Education Sydney Limited a College of Advanced Education and also a member of one of its predecessor Colleges from 1980 to 1991
- Senator of Australian Catholic University from 1991 to 1998
- Chairman for New South Wales Chapter of Australian Catholic University from 1997 to 2000
- member of the Board of Mercy Family Centre, Waitara (a Family Welfare Centre) for 30 years, the last three years as Deputy Chairman
- member of the Board of Mater Dei Special School at Camden for 10 years

In 1997 Tony was made a member of the Order of Australia. The honour was awarded to him for services to the community.

Tony was Managing Partner from 2005 to 2007.

Professional Background
Tony has a Bachelor of Laws degree and has been admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales since 1961. He joined the firm in 1956 and has been a partner since 1963.
