Professional Experience
Dianne specialises in the following areas of law:-
- Franchising - dispute resolution, buying and selling franchise businesses and setting up new franchise systems.
- Commercial - setting up companies, trusts, acting for clients in the purchase and sale of businesses. Assisting clients in the restructure of businesses including setting up family discretionary trusts. Preparing licenses and other commercial agreements, advising clients on building construction contracts.
- Leasing – advising clients on leases. Preparing Leases for clients (retail and commercial).
- Tax Law - assisting charitable institutions in obtaining Deductible Gift Recipient status, establishing scholarship fund and other funds for schools and colleges. Providing general tax advice, advising clients on capital gains tax and GST. Acting for clients in matters involving claims by the Australian Taxation Office, audit process, notices of assessment or any other matter in relation to the Australian Taxation Office.
- Estate Planning a- establishing trusts, asset protection, preparing Wills, Power of Attorney/Guardianship.
Before joining Carroll & O'Dea in 2007, Dianne worked for one of the major banks in Australia for a number of years in the dispute resolution group. Dianne has represented numerous franchisees in mediation proceedings with successful results.
Professional Qualifications
Dianne obtained her commerce and law degrees from the University of South Africa. Dianne practised law in South Africa. She was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 13 July 2001. Dianne obtained a Masters degree in Taxation from the University of New South Wales in 2008.
