Current Practice
Michelle is an experienced compensation lawyer, who has worked in all areas of compensation law, as a Plaintiff lawyer, a Defendant lawyer and a Claims Manager. Michelle also has experience with Employment and Industrial Relations law. Michelle is permanently situated at our Wollongong office. Michelle is from Wollongong and attended secondary school at Smiths Hill High School.
Professional Experience
Michelle was admitted to practice in 2004. Prior to her admission, Michelle worked as a law clerk at a large insurance law firm during her legal studies. Michelle continued with this firm for a number of years following her admission, developing her skills, expertise and relationships with various insurers.
Michelle also has experience in other areas of law including banking and finance, debt recovery, liquor licensing, criminal law and family law. Michelle was a member of an in-house legal team for a large financial institution and also worked for a large local manufacturer before joining Carroll & O’Dea.
Since joining Carroll & O’Dea, Michelle has expanded her practice to include Employment and Industrial Relations law. In this area, Michelle has presented seminars for a local health organisation, published articles in a national Human Resources magazine and co-authored a Guidebook for employers on the issue of maternity leave.
Professional Background
Michelle gained her legal qualifications through the NSW Legal Practitioners Admission Board. Michelle joined Carroll & O'Dea in the Wollongong practice in 2009.
In 2010, Michelle was the Wollongong Law Society Young Lawyers Delegate. Michelle has been an active member of the Wollongong community through the Illawarra Business Chamber, Illawarra Women in Business and Junior Chamber International, as well as performing volunteer work through the Illawarra Legal Centre and Beacon Foundation.
