Professional Experience
Lara is a member of the Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team and acts for clients in a variety of commercial litigation and general dispute resolution matters. Since joining Carroll & O'Dea Lawyers in mid 2009, she has advised and represented clients in both prosecuting and defending claims in the Federal Court of Australia, the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia, the New South Wales Court of Appeal, the Supreme, District and Local Courts of New South Wales, and the New South Wales Consumer, Trader & Tenancy Tribunal. Areas in which Lara advises include matters relating to the Corporations Act, breach of contract claims, negligence suits, property and commercial leasing disputes, bankruptcy proceedings, matters involving a breach of the Competition and Consumer Act (formerly known as the Trade Practices Act), equity proceedings, building defect claims, winding up proceedings and debt recovery.
Lara places a strong emphasis on effective communication between the client, solicitor and Counsel and is committed to acting in the client's best interests at all times.
Lara is actively involved in the Australian Catholic University Clemente program, which mentors disadvantaged young adults, helping them to get a university education by tutoring and supporting them.
Professional Background
Lara has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Bachelor of Sports Management from the University of Canberra. Lara is a committee member of the New South Wales Young Lawyers Civil Litigation Committee.
