Current Practice
Peter Hansen is an experienced solicitor, acting in both federal and state jurisdictions, representing clients before the Workers Compensation Tribunal, the Dust Diseases Tribunal, the Federal Administrative Appeals Tribunal, the District Court, and the Supreme Court.

Professional Experience
Peter began practice in 1980, focusing on litigation. He has practised in both New South Wales and Victoria.   In 1988, he began working as a volunteer Human Rights lawyer in Refugee Camps in Hong Kong and the Philippines. After periods in academia as a university lecturer, in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and family counselling, and in working within the trade union movement, Peter is once again actively involved in litigation.   He is currently practising in the areas of work place issues, compensation issues, negligence issues and refugee issues. Peter has a strong commitment to social justice and the rights of the individual; he continues to undertake pro bono work for refugees.

Professional Background
Peter was admitted to practice in 1980, and began work with a large national law firm. He then returned to his native Victoria, where he was as a partner in a Melbourne insurance law practice. He recently returned to New South Wales to join the Carroll and O’Dea litigation team. Peter holds degrees in law, theology, and a doctorate in history. He is a Vietnamese speaker.
