Justice Francis MacGregor |
The President of The Seychelles Court of Appeal, Justice Francis
MacGregor, addressed a gathering of staff and some guests on Monday
2nd November. Justice MacGregor gave us an overview of the Seychelles'
Legal System, a rare hybrid system, evolving from French civil law and
English common law. He also spoke about his visit to
Australia to attend the recent 4th International Conference on the
Training of the Judiciary, organised by The International Organization
for Judicial Training. We were very grateful to our Solicitor, Sofia
MacGregor for introducing her father to us and very appreciative of
his generosity in taking the time to present to us.

The Lasallian Foundation works to achieve alternatives to the
plight of child workers facing homelessness, slavery, abandonment and
lack of education. The foundation addresses gender inequality
experienced by girls throughout Asia and Papua New Guinea. Female
infanticide, domestic slavery, child prostitution, sex trafficking and
denial of opportunities are some of the insurmountable problems that
the Lasallian Foundation encounters. Through their fundraising efforts
the Lasallian Foundation can offer residential sanctuary and a safe
healthy life regardless of caste, religion or politics.
