Current Practice
Claire Bateman is a Solicitor within our Employment & Industrial
Law Group.
She has experience in a wide range of Occupational Health &
Safety, Employment and Dispute Resolution matters and has
represented a broad range of clients, ranging from large Corporate
and Government clients to individuals. In particular, Claire has
provided advice and has been involved in significant industrial
relations disputes regarding unfair contracts, unfair dismissals,
and underpayment of wages claims. She has also advised employers and
individuals in relation to Occupational Health & Safety issues
and prosecutions.
Claire regularly acts for the WorkCover Authority of NSW in
relation to prosecutions under the Occupational Health & Safety
Act 2000, and her experience in these matters is of benefit to our
Defendant clients. Claire appears in both the State and Federal
Courts for these matters.
Prior to commencing work with Carroll & O'Dea, Claire worked
for Jackson Smith Lawyers.
Educational Background
Claire has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours I) and a Bachelor of Science
(Biological Sciences) from the University of Western Sydney. Claire
was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2005, and
she joined the firm that year.
