Current Practice
Claire Bateman is an Associate within our Employment &
Industrial Law Group. She has experience in a wide range of
Occupational Health & Safety, Employment and Dispute Resolution
matters and has represented and advised a broad range of clients,
ranging from large Corporate and Government clients to individuals.
In particular, Claire has provided advice and has been involved in
many significant matters regarding unfair contracts, unfair
dismissals, breach of contract claims, drafting of contracts and
discrimination claims. She has also advised employers and
individuals in relation to Occupational Health & Safety issues
and prosecutions.
Claire's background in Science enables her to appreciate aspects
of many different matters to the advantage of our commercial
clients. Claire has acted frequently for the WorkCover Authority of
NSW in relation to prosecutions under the Occupational Health &
Safety Act 2000, and her experience in these matters is of benefit
to our Defendant clients. Claire appears in both the State and
Federal Courts for these matters.
Professional Experience
Claire undertook her undergraduate studies at the University of
Western Sydney as well as at the University of Sydney. Prior to
commencing work with Carroll & O'Dea, Claire worked for Jackson
Smith Lawyers.
Professional Background
Claire has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours I) and a Bachelor of Science
(Biological Sciences) from the University of Western Sydney. Claire
was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2005, and
she joined the firm that year. Claire was made an Associate of the
firm in 2010.
