Professional Experience
Mark is in the Compensation Law Division.
Mark's litigation expertise in Compensation Law centres mostly on public
liability claims, in addition to general compensation cases. Mark's legal
background was initially in a defendant's capacity, working in a national
insurance law firm and also in the legal division of an insurance company. He
has been Associate to the President of the Dust Diseases Tribunal, the
specialist tribunal dealing with all asbestos related claims. Mark is a member
of the Law Society of NSW Medico-Legal Committee, a committee commissioned to
represent and advocate for the related interests of legal and medical
professions. He is also on the Board of Charingfield, an aged care facility in
Sydney.
In his previous Business Development and Marketing capacities for the Firm, Mark
worked closely with
the Partners, lawyers and Marketing staff of the Firm in order to co-ordinate
and integrate all the business development and marketing initiatives of the
Firm. This involved working with lawyers and staff outside of the Compensation
Law Division in the other legal divisions at Carroll and O'Dea Lawyers.
Before joining the legal profession, Mark taught and worked in the secondary
and tertiary education sectors and was a management consultant for a consultancy
specialising in industrial relations and organisational change.
Professional Qualifications
Mark has degrees in education, philosophy and law. His Master of Law and
Legal Practice is from the University of Technology Sydney. His education degree is from
the University of Sydney and his Master of Philosophy is from Trinity College
Dublin.
