Professional Experience
Since joining Carroll & O'Dea in 1976, Robert Higgins has over 28 years experience in the area of
litigation
and dispute resolution. He has had extensive experience advising both plaintiffs and defendants, which
enables him to bring a balanced and practical approach when advising his clients. Robert is accredited as
a specialist in his field by the Law Society of NSW. He has significant experience in the area of commercial
litigation and landlord and tenant law. For the past 18 years Robert has acted for the Transport Accident
Commission of Victoria (TAC) in respect of matters that come within the jurisdiction of New South Wales.
With a considerable interstate dimension to his practice, Robert has developed extensive expertise in
cases in which conflict of laws issues arise. He has been involved in a number of cases which have
become significant precedents in the area of conflict of laws, for example Hill ats Thompson 1995 NSWLR.
In the area of landlord and tenant law, some of Robert's more significant matters have included major
lease transactions for the Government Insurance Office (GIO), Elcom and Lend Lease.
Professional Background
Robert has Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Sydney and a
Master of Laws from the University of Sydney. Robert is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court
of New South Wales. Robert joined the firm in 1976 and became a partner in 1984. |
