Professional Experience 
Ryan has a significant depth of knowledge and experience in resolving large, complex and sensitive disputes across various jurisdictions. Before joining Carroll & O'Dea in 2007, Ryan was a lawyer in dispute resolution at a national mid tier law firm representing the interests of defendant insurers and self-insured parties before moving to a large national insurer where he obtained extensive experience resolving disputes in respect to large scale compensation claims.

Ryan appreciates the manner in which litigation can affect the lives of claimants and consequently is a strong advocate of alternative dispute resolution processes such as conciliation, mediation and informal settlement conferences as ways of settling claims. He is strongly committed to the early resolution of disputes by enaging these approaches.

Ryan is well known in the legal profession and as a result enjoys a good working relationship with both claimants and defendants . He is an active member in the community, involved in a number of causes and a keen cyclist.

Professional Qualifications
Ryan graduated from The University of Newcastle in Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Laws in 2002 and was admitted to the profession of law in February 2003.
