Stephen is a leading national expert in compensation litigation. He has held a suite of senior professional positions in the area and is often called to provide expert opinions in this area of law.
Stephen has practised continuously in compensation litigation since he was admitted as a solicitor in 1970.
Stephen was a senior Partner of a leading personal injury law firm prior to the merger of that firm with Carroll & O’Dea in 2013.
His major areas of practice are personal injury litigation and professional negligence litigation.
He has lead numerous high profile cases, gaining successful outcomes for his clients and advancing
Stephen’s professional positions include a previous Chairman of the Law Society of NSW Accident Compensation Committee and, for many years, he was a member of the Legal Aid Review Committee.

- Stephen was admitted as a solicitor of the NSW Supreme Court in 1970.
- He has been Special Counsel at Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers since 2013.
- From 1992 to 2008, Stephen was one of the inaugural members of the Specialist Accreditation Committee in Personal Injury Law of the Law Society.
- Stephen also held the position of Arbitrator, appointed to deal with personal injury claims in the Supreme Court of NSW and he held that position from 1983 until the year 2000, when personal injury claims were largely removed from the Supreme Court.
