Gemma will discuss the history of The School of St Jude and its positive impact on their students education and lives. Gemma will also share aspects on her life, humanitarian career and enlighten us on her remarkable accomplishments.
About the speaker
Gemma Sisia is the founding director of The School of St Jude, a 100% charity-funded school in Arusha, Tanzania which provides the opportunity of free education to children experiencing poverty.
After 20 years of fundraising and building St Jude’s from its foundations, today St Jude’s provides no cost, quality education to 1,800 primary and secondary students and supports hundreds of tertiary scholars every year. 100% of St Jude’s students and scholars are on scholarships, which provides everything students need for a successful education, including nutritious meals, boarding, transport and much more.
In 2007 Gemma was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) and in 2012, she was a finalist of the New South Wales Australian of the Year Awards.
