Mr Richard Harvey, the President of the Law Society of NSW for 2020, has identified supporting the mental health and wellbeing of the legal profession as one of his three key areas of priority. He has recently announced The Law Society’s Solicitor Outreach (SOS) to support the state’s 35,000 solicitors during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
This initiative provides NSW solicitors with confidential access to up to three psychological counselling sessions per financial year, and immediate phone counselling for those in acute distress. Both come at no cost to the solicitor, and are accessed through a single SOS phone number – 1800 592 296 – which is operational around the clock, 365 days a year. As a solicitor who has practised continuously for nearly four decades, Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers are very pleased Richard Harvey is joining us as our Tuesday Lunchtime Speaker to talk about mental health and supporting the legal profession.
