Joel Cain

Joel is based in Carroll & O’Dea’s Melbourne office.

Joel works primarily in litigation and dispute resolution and represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of personal injury matters. Joel has experience in historical institutional abuse matters, public liability, workers compensation and medical negligence.

Joel is also active in the sports law space and draws uniquely from his own experiences in elite sport.

• Joel joined Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers in 2023
• Prior to joining Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers he was an elite level rower, competing nationally and internationally. He also held a scholarship to the Victorian Institute of Sport
• Joel was admitted as a Solicitor in 2026
• Joel completed a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in politics and international relations and media and communications) from the University of Melbourne in 2020, and in 2025 completed a Juris Doctor at Monash University
