Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers presents Fr. Laurence Freeman on Christian Meditation & Resilience

Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers presents Fr. Laurence Freeman on Christian Meditation & Resilience

Published on March 9, 2016

In a world where commercial imperatives seem to only heighten work pressures, not reduce them, the concept of taking time out to meditate might seem counter intuitive.

Yet Christian Meditation is finding a place in addressing the stress and imbalance of modern life in the professional workplace and helping build resilience in professionals.

Fr. Laurence Freeman OSB is a Benedictine Monk and the Director of The World Community for Christian Meditation and will be hosting an evening of meditation and lawyers, at Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers.

His focus is on how the Christian traditions of meditation, and indeed all wisdom traditions including Indigenous spirituality, can be applied and practised in the professional arena to improve self-management and build resilience.

Fr. Freeman has taken the Christian contemplative tradition and initiated meditation courses at leading business schools in the United States and Singapore helping lawyers and other professionals address the imbalance of modern life.

On April 20, Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers are very honoured to have Fr. Laurence Freeman host a special evening session on meditation for lawyers, focusing on how professionals can:

  • Strengthen personal resilience and self-management.
  • Develop inspiration and compassionate leadership.
  • Deepen personal integration, integrity and harmony with actualised values

Meditation is now universally acknowledged to bring benefits for greater wellbeing and overall happiness, and is finding devotees cross the spectrum of business, from Law to Finance, Banking and beyond.

In this special event Fr. Freeman will expand on the benefits of meditation and how it is now taking a hold in the corporate world and enabling individuals to step outside the frenetic pace of work life and find some inner balance.
