Reforms to the NSW Compulsory Third Party Green Slip Insurance Scheme

The report highlights the need for greater efficiencies in the Green Slip (CTP) scheme, particularly in the area of smaller claims. It also sets out the case for a move to a no-fault system in New South Wales.
A move away from an adversarial system may deliver some efficiencies, however, we should be cautious about moving to a no-fault system that doesn’t include access to adequate representation.
We have a long tradition of court based processes which have assisted people to access justice for many years, and we should ensure that the changes announced over the weekend have enough checks and balances in them to ensure that people’s rights are fully protected while achieving any necessary efficiencies.
