Jessica has a range of experience in various practice areas and is dedicated to providing clients with solutions in commercial and property law, including contract drafting, transactional and advisory work.

Through her work as a commercial property solicitor, Jessica has developed strong analytical and organisational skills and an awareness of the importance of communicating with clients in a timely fashion. She is also committed to building capacity in her clients, advising them on the need to take preventative measures to avoid costly disputes in the future.

Her clients range from small to medium enterprises and family enterprises. She assists her clients with business transactions, contracts, commercial advice, privacy compliance advice, sales and acquisitions of property, retail and commercial leasing, intellectual property, establishing Trusts, and advice in relation to the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth).

Jessica also acts for various religious institutes and not for profit organisations on their commercial and property transactions, including restructure and ongoing governance advice stamp duty exemptions, ACNC compliance, drafting constitutions, preparing trust deeds, transfers of real property, transfers of assets to the Diocese, aged care and retirement village advice, leasing and general commercial advice. In addition to her religious, not-for-profit and commercial work Jessica can also assist with Estate planning including testamentary trusts, draft Wills, Powers of Attorney and Appointments of Enduring Guardian for private clients.

Some of the highlights of Jessica’s career include: acting on the sale of a well-known Shoe Retailer with an annual turnover of $20,000,000 with a chain of 18 stores including business and lease issues; acting on the Sale of Shares of a chicken producing business and merger of wine producer, providing advice on leasing, real property, franchising, supply agreements, Personal Property Securities Register issues and intellectual property and undertaking due diligence.

In more intricate matters Jessica also has acted on behalf of a metropolitan bulky goods and retail shopping centre owner in relation to developments and ongoing commercial and retail leasing issues; done due diligence for acquisition of a Australian Tertiary College for an American investor; negotiated new IT contracts for suppliers and cloud computing related issues.

Jessica also negotiated a voluntary settlement for the return of a vehicle for a not-for-profit organisation that was seized by an Administrator due to the failure to register a security interest on the Personal Property Securities Register over the vehicle as the registered proprietor.

Jessica is committed to advancing the practice of law and is involved in the Notre Dame School of Law Mentoring Program under which she mentors students in their penultimate years preparing them for practice.

“The impossible can always be broken down into possibilities.”
