The theme of NAIDOC week for this year is “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy”, which highlights the importance of cultural continuity and leadership. In recognition of this, CEO of Welcome to Country Desmond Campbell (Jangala/Gojok) will address both the evolution of his organisation and its partnership with Tranby.
Desmond says his talk will “focus on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have entrusted us with the responsibility of representing their languages, cultures, and traditions – generously sharing this rich heritage with Australia and the world”.
About the speaker
Desmond Campbell (Jangala/Gojok) is an Alawa Aboriginal man from South East Arnhem Land and a Gurindji man from the South Western Desert of the Northern Territory. As the CEO of Welcome to Country, Desmond is committed to safeguarding and celebrating the world’s oldest living cultures and languages. Through business and entrepreneurship, he leads a dedicated team to support the preservation and promotion of these ancient traditions, connecting them with a global audience through retail, tourism, and cultural consulting.
