You need your brain span to last your life span. Dr Nicola Gates will discuss the importance of investing in brain health, particularly in the middle years, to help your brain last a life time.

Dr Nicola Gates is a registered Clinical Neuropsychologist and neuroscience researcher with UNSW Medicine Centre for Healthy Brain Aging. She has over twenty years clinical experience working in adult wellbeing and cognitive health in the private and government sector, including Sydney Water and TfNSW, along with insurance compensation work. Her research is world renown as she has over 24 peer reviewed publications in international medical journals and is currently involved in a large research project with Oxford University in dementia prevention. Nicola translates complicated neuroscience and medical research with positive psychology, real life stories and practical strategies and speaks to hundreds every year about the importance of life-style and mind-style for total health and positive living. She is well published in the general media and a ‘brain expert’ on radio and television. Her book, ‘A Brain for Life’, released in June 2016 by ABC Books, went into second print in September after ten weeks in the top ten non-fiction list and she was a guest of Brisbane Writer’s Festival.
