Charlotte Grieve, Journalist and Author.

October 27, 2026 12:40pm - 2:00pm
Level 18, 111 Elizabeth Street, Sydney OR via Teams link

Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers invites you to our Lunchtime Speaker event with Charlotte Grieve, Journalist and Author.

Please join us at Level 18, 111 Elizabeth Street, Sydney or via Teams if you can’t make it in person.

Topic

Join us for an insightful Q&A with journalist and author Charlotte Grieve as she discusses her recent book, Duty to Warn, which takes readers inside the Dr Munjed Al Muderis defamation trial (in which the Nine Network successfully invoked the public interest defence for the first time) and explores the power of investigative journalism to hold institutions and individuals accountable. Charlotte will share insights and anecdotes from the courtroom, reflect on the people and events at the centre of the case, that is currently under appeal, and discuss what it takes to investigate and tell a complex legal story.

About the speaker

Charlotte Grieve, Journalist and Author

Charlotte Grieve is an award-winning investigative journalist with the ABC and author of Duty to Warn. She began her journalism career at The Age as a cadet in 2018 and then worked for two years as a national business journalist where she was awarded Citi Young Business Journalist of the Year in both 2022 and 2023.

She has twice been awarded Michael Gordon fellowships to travel to outback Australia to report environmental investigations about the gas and carbon offsetting industries.
She has also been recognised with two Quills Awards, a high commendation for the Grant Hattam Quill for Investigative Journalism, a Kennedy Award and a Walkley Mid-Year Prize nomination for Environment Reporting. Her book Duty To Warn was just awarded the Ned Kelly Best True Crime Award for 2026.

Her previous experience includes roles with The Sydney Morning Herald and 60 Minutes, where she received producer credits on five documentaries covering subjects from international fraud to the ultra-conservative infiltration of the Victorian Liberals. She now works with the ABC’s national investigations team, producing multi-media, public interest stories spanning healthcare, politics and business.
