Cyber- Bullying – Issues for Schools
Published on June 5, 2012 by Howard Harrison
On May 16 we conducted an excellent session on Cyber bullying – Issues for Schools at the Hilton Hotel in conjunction with Hicksons Lawyers.
The evening provided very interesting presentations on some challenging issues. The speakers for the evening included Michael Fordham, a barrister, who provided the audience with practical advice and tips on how schools can best help mitigate risk in respect of bullying claims, Dr Jonathan Phillips, who spoke on the harsh realities of bullying and the long term psychological effects for both victims and perpetrators, and concluding the evening was Ross Hanson, General Manager at Netbox Blue, who explored the technological challenges faced in the education sector and the development of new technologies, such as real time alerts, to help prevent bullying.
The night was a great success and was delivered to a packed audience of over 160 people. It is unusual for law firms to collaborate as we do with Hicksons, but it demonstrates a degree of innovation as this is the second time we have done so. I’d like to thank the team at Hicksons Lawyers for all their hard work in making the night such a success.
