RUOK Day

Thursday, 15 September 2011, is National RUOK Day.
We are pleased to support this initiative and the ongoing battle to reach out and connect with friends and colleagues who may be struggling with depression or similar illness.
For many people ‘work’ is an important form or space in which to communicate and seek help. We would expect to be aware of a colleague in difficulty and would want to help but not inappropriately intrude if at all possible.
Lawyers suffer from high rates of depression, work stress and burnout and there is often an understandable reluctance to seek help.
We do need to be ‘in touch’ with each other and in particular, any vulnerable or marginalised fellow worker on these important issues.
The RUOK initiative promotes discussion and awareness around these issues and is a great initiative which we are pleased to support.
