ACNC Guidance on Board Remuneration
The ACNC has recently released the latest episode of their podcast, ACNC Charity Chat, on the top of Board Remuneration.
Amendments to the Charitable Fundraising Act
The Charitable Fundraising Amendment (Inquiries) Bill 2017 (NSW) (Bill) passed both houses of Parliament and came into force amending the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991 (NSW) (Act) from 14 August 2017.
Final Report of the Referendum Council
“In 1967 we were counted, in 2017 we seek to be heard”.
This was both the headline message and theme of the much anticipated Final Report of the Referendum Council issued on 30 June 2017 (Final Report), having been commissioned by the leaders of the Federal Government and Opposition roughly 18 months earlier to lead the process that would give a voice in parliament to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Commonwealth Redress Scheme for Institutional Abuse
On 26 October 2017, the Federal Minister for Social Services introduced a Bill into Parliament which, if passed, would introduce a national Redress Scheme for survivors of institutional child sexual abuse.
New Commissioner: The Assistant Minister to the Treasurer, the Hon. Michael Sukkar MP, announced last week that Dr Gary Johns has been appointed as new ACNC Commissioner for a term of five years.
