Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers is a mid-tier law firm providing legal services for clients in the areas of Compensation, Personal Services, Community & Associations and Business. We specialise in litigation, advisory and transaction work across a broad range of areas of practice.

This role leads our People & Culture team, located in Sydney CBD. Additionally, our firm has offices located in Parramatta, Campbelltown, Newcastle, Raymond Terrace, Wollongong and Melbourne.

The opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and proactive People & Culture Advisor to join our P&C team, in our Sydney CBD office. Working alongside a collaborative team and reporting to the Head of People & Culture, this role will involve providing generalist HR support, guidance and expertise to our business leaders and employees.

You will act as a trusted advisor and provide support to the business across the full range of HR disciplines, including talent management, workforce planning, organisational development, culture, and employee relations.

Your role

Working closely with your business stakeholders and our operational People & Culture team, you will be involved in a wide range of activities, including:

  • Assisting with HR related support activities such as recruitment, onboarding, learning and development and performance reviews.
  • Providing practical HR guidance on the full lifecycle of HR activities and people matters.
  • Having the opportunity to be involved in project initiatives that will enhance our employee capability and experience.
  • Providing professional, business-focussed People and Culture services and advice to leaders
  • Investigating employee grievances and resolving key people issues
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our P&C function.

The Successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management or other related discipline
  • Previous experience in HR Generalist / Advisory role
  • Experience in end-to-end disciplinary processes, grievance resolution, performance management processes, and other employment relations matters
  • knowledge of HR legislation, principles and practices
  • Experience as a P&C generalist supporting teams in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to build effective and collaborative relationships with stakeholders
  • High level attention to detail
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organised with excellent time management
  • Previous experience within the legal/professional services industries (preferred)
