Annual Information Statements

The ACNC Commissioner is now authorised to defer submission dates for Annual Information Statements for charities that can demonstrate a genuine need for an extension.

While charities are encouraged to meet the due date for submission of the 2019 Annual Information Statement (AIS), the ACNC Commissioner has the discretion to defer the submission date for the AIS for charities that have been impacted by the ongoing effects of COVID-19.

Charities seeking a deferral should submit their request in writing to advice@acnc.gov.au, and the request should come from a primary contact or Responsible person for the charity.  Charities will be required to set out the reason for the delay and the new requested date for submission.

The request will be judged on its merits – taking into account the charity’s individual circumstances. The Commissioner will approve requests where there is a genuine need (for circumstances beyond the charity’s control) or if it is fair and reasonable to do so. However, charities should remain aware that failing to meet their obligations, even in difficult times, can result in the loss of their registration.
